Puppy who fell out of third-storey window in Birmingham searches for loving new home

A puppy who fell out of a window and needed veterinary treatment is now back on all four paws and is looking for a new home.

Nine-month-old Brian was taken in by the RSPCA’s Birmingham Animal Hospital for treatment in August 2024 when he was just four months old.

Brian, a Belgian Malinois cross, reportedly fell from a third-storey window in Birmingham but was lucky to suffer only soft tissue injuries so, after pain relief and rest, he was back on all four paws.

He’s been patiently waiting at Birmingham Animal Centre for a new home ever since and the team can’t understand why he hasn’t yet been snapped up.

Kennel Supervisor Kelly Legg said: “Brian is growing fast and he’s spent much of his young life in our care which is no place for a puppy.

“He’s such a sweet boy with lots of energy and so much love to give. He loves to run and play to burn off his energy, and then loves cuddles on the sofa.

“He’s had a difficult start to life so we’re looking for experienced owners who are active and can keep up with him. He would benefit from further training and socialisation with other dogs so we’re keen to find owners who are happy to commit to puppy training classes and positive reward-based training.

"He’s really smart and very busy so he’d love to have the opportunity in the future to take part in something that is physically and mentally stimulating, such as agility, scentwork or even Canicross.

“In the right home, he’ll really thrive and he’ll be such great fun. We just hope there’s someone out there who will give him a chance; and keep him away from any more windows!”

Brian is looking for a home with adults or with older children and he’d like to be the only pet. He’ll need owners who can initially commit to being home with him most of the time before learning how to be left home alone.

He’s not yet been neutered and vets want to wait until he’s 18 months old so his new owners will need to commit to return to the Hospital to have him neutered at the right age, with no additional cost.
