Solihull man found guilty of murdering his girlfriend

A man has been found guilty of murdering his girlfriend after stabbing her 54 times. Ian Bennett murdered Kerry Woolley after falsely accusing her of cheating. His mother was also found guilty of assisting an offender and perverting the course of justice.

Rise in drug gangs blamed on cuts to police officers

West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner Simon Foster has said that government cuts to officer numbers in the region has contributed to a rise in drug gang activity. He has pledged his commitment to putting an extra 450 officers on the street and supporting preventative measures to help those exploited by county lines gangs.

£1.6m to upgrade key walking routes in the Gay Village and other Birmingham streets

Birmingham City Council have allocated £1.6 million to upgrade key walking routes in the Gay Village and other Birmingham streets ahead of the 2022 Commonwealth games. The upgrade will include resurfacing, enhanced lighting, the relocation of bicycle stands and other improvements on key walking routes in the city. Full story here
