Former care home in Selly Park, Birmingham, up for auction - guide price

A detached Edwardian property which was a care home in Selly Park, Birmingham, with 11 bedrooms is going under the hammer

A detached house in a prime Birmingham suburb that until recently served as an 11-bedroomed care home is appearing in Bond Wolfe’s live streamed auction next month.

The Edwardian property at 807 Pershore Road, Selly Park is just up the road from the up-and-coming trendy suburb of Stirchley and will have a guide price* of £595,000+ in the auction on 14 September.

James Rossiter, senior auction valuer at Bond Wolfe, explained that the freehold property was now vacant and could be suitable for all sorts of different uses, subject to planning permission.

Mr Rossiter said: “This large property is on the west side of Pershore Road in the suburb of Selly Park, in close proximity to the popular suburb of Stirchley, the University of Birmingham and Edgbaston Cricket Ground.

“Selly Park has various local amenities including supermarkets and a variety of local cafes, restaurants and bars, as well as a number of open green spaces.

“The property stands back from the road behind a driveway with gardens front and back, and there are good transport links by road to the city centre and motorways via the Pershore Road and nearby Bristol Road.

“807 Pershore Road used to be an 11-bedroomed care home, but it could be converted into individual flats, social housing, a house in multiple occupation or a large family home, subject to planning permission.

“There is central heating and double glazing throughout, and on the ground floor, there is a vestibule, hall, three reception rooms, two kitchens, an office and a bedroom with ensuite bathroom.

“Upstairs is a landing, six bedrooms, two kitchens, two bathrooms and a shower room, all with toilets, and the second floor has a landing, four bedrooms, a kitchen and bathrooms, plus a store room.”

Mr Rossiter added: “The location, size, potential future use and attractive guide price of this large detached house will make it a popular lot with bidders in the auction.”

The Selly Park property is just one of 180 lots that are appearing in Bond Wolfe’s next auction, which will start at 9am on Thursday 14 September.
