William, Prince of Wales and Catherine, Princess of Wales, both 40, have been married since 2011. Their first visit to Birmingham together was in the first year of their marriage. Since then, William, who is now first in line for the throne, and the princess have visited Birmingham many times.
The first time the future king visited Birmingham with his wife was in 2011 right after the riots - a difficult period for the city. The most recent visit was for the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in 2022 in celebration of the multiculturalism and vibrancy of the city.
The couple are patrons of many initiatives and charities that work towards uplifting deprived sections of the city. For instance - the charity SportsAid supports talented young athletes and Catherine became its patron in 2013.
For their most recent visit, the couple were also accompanied by their daughter, Princess Charlotte. Her joyful and funny photos reacting to the sports she spectated became viral.
The prince visited Cornwall for the first time recently since becoming its Duke. He received the Duchy of Cornwall estate since the death of the Queen, Elizabeth II as he’s now next in line to be monarch. Perhaps, the future king will visit Birmingham again as well since he took on the new role.
Most of the previous visits to the city were related to the excellence the industries have to offer. Here are 12 photos of the royal couple’s previous visits:
