Police investigate ‘human remains’ discovery in West Midlands woodland

Forensic teams from West Midlands Police are continuing to investigate what is believed to be human remains found in woodland near Great Barr.

The remains were found at Cuckoos Nook on Sutton Road near Barr Beacon in Walsall, West Midlands, shortly before 4pm on Saturday (June 4).

Police cordoned off the area while searches were carried out.

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said: "We are still at the scene today (June 6) and enquiries continue as we investigate the discovery of what is believed to be human remains in woodland near Cuckoos Nook, Sutton Road, Walsall shortly before 4pm yesterday (4 June).

“The area has been cordoned off for the forensic recovery of the remains and further searches to be carried out. The discovery is being treated as unexplained at this moment in time, and we have referred this incident to the coroner."
