A Birmingham firearms suspect was due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court today (Tuesday, October 17)

A man is due in court on firearms and drugs charges after police recovered a firearm from a car in Birmingham at the weekend.

On Sunday (October 15) officers stopped the vehicle in College Road, Kingstanding, at around 6.15pm. On searching the vehicle they seized a suspected firearm from under a seat. A man and a woman were arrested.

Following questioning, Jowade Taffe, aged 33, has been charged with possessing a firearm and ammunition without a certificate. He is also charged with two counts of possession of cocaine with intent to supply.

He was held in police custody overnight and is due to appear before Birmingham Magistrates Court today (Tuesday October 17). A 27-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm has been released on bail with strict conditions as enquiries continue.
