Man critical and five people including child injured after crash on Pershore Road, Birmingham

Six people were injured after a collision in Birmingham today (Wednesday, May 31).
West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to Pershore Road in Edgbaston at 1.07pm after a collision between a bus and a car.

Hide AdA man is currently in critical condition following the crash. Four ambulances, two paramedic officers, a MERIT trauma doctor and critical care paramedic attended the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “On arrival, crews discovered the driver of the car, a man, was in a critical condition.
“Ambulance staff immediately began administering advanced life-support before conveying him on blue lights to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for continued treatment.
“Two male passengers of the bus were treated by ambulance staff for potentially serious injuries and taken to the same hospital for further treatment. A female passenger was treated by medics for injuries not believed to be serious and taken to Birmingham Women’s Hospital for further treatment.

Hide Ad“A child from onboard the bus was taken to Birmingham Children’s Hospital with minor injuries. A sixth patient, who was the female passenger of the car, was assessed by ambulance staff but did not require hospital treatment. She was given self-care advice before being discharged at the scene.”
West Midlands Police previously said on Twitter: “We are currently at the scene of a collision. We were called at around 1pm to a report of a bus in collision with a car on Pershore Road, Edgbaston. Emergency services are currently in attendance and the road near to Edgbaston Cricket Club has been closed.”
Buses are being diverted with National Express West Midlands bus services 47 currently diverting on both directions. Services 1, 45, 47, 61 and 63 are currently seeing delays of up to 20 minutes.
