and on Freeview 262 or Freely 565
Bartley Green in Birmingham encompasses scenic spots like the Bartley Reservoir, offering stunning views and great walking routes. I visited the suburb to talk with a few residents to uncover what daily life is like in the district, which is five miles south west of the city centre, to get their thoughts on the high points and low points of their community.

Melissa says: “It’s not a bad area - it needs a lot of money pumping in with social housing. It’s got a huge social housing crisis at the moment - the whole of England has a social housing crisis at the moment - and just the litter picking is terrible, the garbage men, they literally don't be pick anything up each and every week and it makes everything look trampy - it makes it look bad.”

James says: “The amount of green spaces we have in Bartley Green is quite nice. The reservoir, a lot of woodland area which we’ve got - it’s quite nice to walk around. The worst thing? Perhaps how long it can take to get into the city centre.”

Phil says: “It’s a nice, pleasant, reasonably quiet area. Lots of greenery. Reasonably flat to walk around because I like walking. Worst thing? It’s a distance from anywhere. I don’t drive, the wife does, so I do a lot of walking.”
Bartley Green has a unique character enriched by its proximity to locations such as Selly Oak and Harborne. The Lickey Hills are a short drive away, providing a perfect escape into nature. With ongoing development and a friendly community spirit, Bartley Green continues to be a sought-after area within Birmingham.
