Sheraz Khan, 68, who was a beloved figure in the community and the owner of the Authentic Jamaican Food Store in Winson Green, a business he had successfully run for nearly 40 years.

Condolences have poured in for Sheraz Khan, the beloved owner of Mr Khan’s, Authentic Jamaican Food Store.

For almost four decades, Khan was at the helm of the Authentic Jamaican Food Store in Winson Green.

His family business, established in 1986, has seen tremendous success. The supermarket on Dudley Road, which he ran alongside his son Danny, grew to become the Birmingham’s largest Afro-Caribbean food outlet.

The sad news of the 68-year-old father’s passing was shared by his loved ones on social media.

His family expressed their gratitude on Instagram: “A big thank you to each and everyone who attended and helped out today! Dad was definitely smiling and proud of each and every one of us. Alhamdulillah such a big funeral and on one of the most blessed days too. May Allah grant our father the highest rank in jannat ul Firdaus. Please do remember him and our family in your prayers.”

His funeral was at the Dudley Road Mosque followed by his burial at the Fallings Heath Cemetery, in Wednesbury, on Friday, May 10.

Following the announcement of his passing on Instagram, mourners paid their respects. One person wrote: “On behalf of the black community Thank You So Much, Rest In Eternal Peace.” A different user added: “May his soul RIP. He was a good man.”
