Johnny Depp’s relationship with daughter Lily Rose-Depp & his loving tribute to her

Hollywood A-lister and musician Johnny Depp, 60, may not seem like the fatherly type but the Hollywood Vampires member loves showering love on his kids.

The actor and musician, who performs with his supergroup including American rockstars Alice Cooper and Joe Perry, is on a UK tour and is set to perform in the city tonight (July 11) at Utilita Arena. However, in a recent gig he made sure to pay tribute to his daughter.

Depp, who is the proud father of model and actress Lily Rose-Depp, 24, wore a blazer during his performance at London’s iconic O2 Arena that carried an homage to her. The distinctive blazer had her name embroidered on the label.

Depp, who is a multi-award winning actor, recently had reason to be proud of one of his kids - Lily Rose-Depp, who has followed his path into acting. She recently starred in The Idol with popstar The Weeknd. The show received a mix-response but got people talking about the male gaze in Hollywood.

Depp shares two children - Lily and Jack - with former partner Vanessa Paradis, 50. Depp and French actress Paradis were together for 14 years before parting ways in 2012.

In a previous interview, Depp said his kids are "told 75 times a day that they’re loved."

He told Britain’s Psychologies magazine in 2008 that he “could sit there all day and do nothing but watch them grow.” He added: I’m totally inspired by them."

While Depp and Paradis were together, they spent a large part of their time in France to keep the children out of the spotlight.

"For my children I secretly choose France. Even though Los Angeles is great too," Paradis told Belgium’s Weekend Knack magazine in 2007. "We raise them bilingually anyway, so for them it doesn’t really matter. Only, in the south of France you can live much more

anonymously. And that’s a bliss, especially when the children are still young."

However, those days are long over when the children needed to be protected as both Lily and Jack are in their 20s and charting their own paths.

In 2015, just like a protective dad, Depp said he was worried about his daughter, who was growing up fast.

After Lily announced she was “sexually fluid”, Depp told Daily Mail: “She’s got thousands of followers on social media, and they were all taken completely by surprise but not me. I already knew because she tells me everything - she’s not afraid to say anything to me. We’re super-tight and I’m very proud of our relationship.

‘Lily’s really together - she’s a sharp kid and one of the smartest human beings I have ever met. She’s far surpassed myself there - and my friends, too!

“And, whatever she is doing, if she needs any advice, I’m there for her. Kids are going to make their own decisions, but I guess that the only thing you can do as a parent is to offer support. And I do.”

With an Oscar-nominated father and a mother- who became a star at the age of 14 - Lily has some tall boots to fill, and she’s just getting started.
