Police launch Operation Spectre to destroy weapons

A new police operation to gather and destroy weapons begins next week. Part of Operation Sceptre, weapon surrender bins will be installed across the West Midlands region.

West Midlands Police say that the bins have been specifically designed to offer maximum safety, and to allow weapons to be surrendered anonymously.

Two men have been arrested after a cannabis farm was discovered in Wednesbury. The grow operation was dismantled by the police and 35 plants were destroyed.

Wednesbury town police announced the raid on social media by saying: “Wednesbury NHT and the community 1-0 drug dealers.”

Fatal social media feud

A social media feud between two former school friends led to a knife fight in a Birmingham street, leaving one dead. According to the prosecution, 19 year old Jack Barry was killed by a single stab wound to the chest during the altercation with Cameron Cheshire who has denied murder (trial continues).
