Ofsted ratings reveal which primary schools in the city have achieved 'Outstanding' ratings this year. We've decided to take a look at those primary schools that have received the highest possible Ofsted rating in 2023.
Schools across the country are regularly inspected by the education watchdog and are graded on a four-point scale. Although they aren’t inspected every year.
‘Outstanding’ is the top rating a school can receive, ‘good’ is second, ‘requires improvement’ the third and ‘inadequate’ is the worst.
So, as mums and dads across the region weigh up the different options of where to send their young ones in the future, we have put together a list of the primary schools in the city which have received the highest 'Outstanding' rating in 2023.
1. Percy Shurmer Academy, Balsall Heath
The Balsall Heath primary school received an Outstanding report from the school watchdog in July 2023. The report read: "Percy Shurmer Academy is a very special place where every child has an exceptional learning experience. Children live the school ethos ‘be big hearted, be brave and choose a remarkable life’. Leaders are relentless in their work to ensure that all pupils attend school daily and on time and pupils enjoy attending. They are happy and safe. Parents are overwhelmingly positive about the quality of education their children receive." | google
2. Parkfield Community School, Saltley
Parkfield Community School achieved an Outstanding rating in November 2023. The glowing report said: "Pupils flourish in all aspects of their learning at this exceptional school. A culture of inclusion and aspiration permeates school life. Staff and pupils are proud of this vibrant, forward-thinking school. The school has an unwavering commitment to serving pupils, families and the community. Staff are relentless in their pursuit of excellence for all, ensuring ‘nobody is left behind’. 3. Hamd House School, Bordesley Green
The primary school received an Outstanding Ofsted rating in July 2023. The Ofsted report read: "Hamd House School is a highly inclusive school where every child is ‘safe, happy, visible and valued’. British and Muslim values are carefully combined to ensure that all pupils are very well prepared for life in modern Britain. Pupils, particularly the most disadvantaged, consistently achieve highly. 4. Shaw Hill Primary School, Alum Rock
Shaw Hill received an Outstanding Ofsted rating in May 2023. The latest report read: "Pupils thrive at Shaw Hill. Staff encourage pupils to become independent and to develop a love of learning from the moment they join the school. For example, pupils in the early years quickly learn how to work collaboratively during their free-flow activities." | google
