October engineering works to disrupt West Midlands train services - Changes to timetables

Major engineering works are scheduled for October on various train lines and travelers will face disruption.
Travel for West Midlands announced that essential works are being delivered throughout October and it will affect Birmingham as well. Services will be affected on 1 and 2 October as well as 16 October, 23 October, and between Saturday 22 October 2022 – Sunday 30 October.

Hide AdPrevious repair works during the August Bank Holiday and strikes affected train services. The September strike scheduled for 15 and 17 September by ASLEF, RMT and TSSA have been cancelled for now as a result of the Queen’s death. However, strikes will take place in the future and further dates for industrial action are yet to be announced.


Here are all the lines that will be affected in Birmingham in October due to the engineering works:
Birmingham New Street - Northampton
On Saturday 1 October 2022 and Sunday 2 October 2022:
- Buses replace trains between Birmingham International - Coventry
Birmingham New Street - Rugeley Trent Valley
On Sunday 16 October 2022 and between Saturday 22 October 2022 – Sunday 30 October 2022:
- Trains will be running between Birmingham New Street - Hednesford only
- Rail replacement buses will be running between Hednesford – Rugeley Trent Valley
Birmingham New Street - Hereford
On Sunday 16 October 2022 and Sunday 23 October 2022 only:
- Buses replace trains between Ledbury and Hereford
