One in every 35 people in Birmingham are currently testing positive for Covid-19.

The rate in Birmingham is estimated to be 2.7%, and the wider West Midlands thought to be at 2.32%. Rates increased by an estimated 23% across the UK last week compared to the week prior.

Kingstanding blast latest - fire service still at the scene

The site of the Kingstanding house explosion is likely to require demolition work, followed by the next stage of planning for the investigation. Some residents have been able to return to their homes, however this has not been possible with eight properties which were either damaged or still without gas.

Love letter to Brum penned by city’s poet laureate

Birmingham poet laureate Casey Bailey has written a love letter to the city of Birmingham. The heartfelt poem has been heralded as a celebration of the city’s talent and diversity. Casey, who was born in Nechell’s, said he wanted to encapsulate all of the emotions he had for the city.
