A new burger restaurant is set to open in Birmingham city centre later this year.

The indepedent chain, Fat Hippo, which specialises in burgers, loaded fries and what the owners call “good old fashioned, roll up your sleeves and get it all over your face” food, will open a brand new restaurant on Bennetts Hill.

The group also work closely with Deliveroo and will be launching on the platform in Birmingham.

An opening date has yet to be confirmed, but it will be in 2022.

What’s been said about the opening?

Michael Phillips, who founded Fat Hippo in the North East in 2010, said: “We couldn’t turn down the opportunity to open Fat Hippo in Birmingham city centre, especially as the building on Bennetts Hill is the perfect location for our brand new restaurant.

“2022 is certainly shaping up to be an exciting year for Fat Hippo, with several new locations for our restaurants in the pipeline!”

Michael Johnson, the company’s Operations Manager, added: “It was only a matter of time until we brought the best burgers to the West Midlands! We can’t wait to welcome the people of Birmingham for a taste of ‘the good kind of gluttony’.”

What’s on the menu at Fat Hippo?

With a full menu of their signature beef and boneless buttermilk chicken patties, that come with free fries as standard, Fat Hippo Birmingham will also have a carefully designed range of vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free options available as well as a kids menu.

The burger joint is famed for its quirky flavours, with burgers like their PB+JJ (a double beef burger topped with peanut butter and bacon jam) available, alongside the classics.

This will be Fat Hippo’s thirteenth location across the UK, with further sites planned across the country over the next year, including restaurants in Cardiff and Glasgow.
