More than 200,000 winter coats collected for vulnerable people as winter sets in

Now in its sixth year, Human Appeal has collected over 200,000 winter coats to donate to vulnerable people across the UK - and it’s looking for more.

The charity works across the UK, with three sites in Birmingham at Safestore in the city centre, Middleway and Pickwick Sports Ground in Moseley.

It is currently accepting winter coat donations with the last day being November 28.

With the support of its partners, Human Appeal gives the coats to the homeless, domestic violence victims, refugees and other people who are currently vulnerable and in need of help.

They work with charities across the country who are helping people survive the winter months.

Labour MP Shabana Mahmood visited the Safestore in the city centre to back this year’s appeal.

She said: “I thought it was really important to attend Human Appeal’s event to raise awareness of the Wrap Up Birmingham campaign, which seeks to support vulnerable people across the UK stay warm this winter.

“ I donated an old coat, which will go to charities that support people who are homeless, refugees, children living in poverty and people fleeing domestic violence.”
