Solihull restaurant wins a new Michelin star in the latest 2023 guide

The stars are shining in Solihull as the prestigious Michelin Guide has awarded one of its coveted stars to a local restaurant this evening (Monday, March 27).

The venue is one of 20 restaurants to win new stars in the 2023 guide. Judges praised the Solihull venue for its sophisticated dishes with Scandinavian influences.

In addition to awarding the restaurant with a star the Micheilin Guide praised its chef for his talent. The latest winner of a Michelin star in Solihull is Grace & Savour at Hampton Manor, in Hampton in Arden, with its chef, David Taylor, receiving a special mention as the awards were announced on Twitter.

Grace & Savour situated in Hampton Manor, has now received one of the highest awards in cuisine in the world. The Michelin Guide said: “Grace & Savour @HamptonManor with @davidtaylorchef wins One MICHELIN Star for the sophisticated dishes with Scandinavian influences.”

David has not yet publicly commented on his Michelin star award. BirminghamWorld previously visited the restaurant after it was crowned the best restaurant in the UK in Squaremeal’s Top 100 Guide.  

The fine dining venue only opened last year. When we spoke to David then he said: “We’re understanding that this is our guests’ time. So it’s their celebration - it’s their birthday, so it’s not about us and what we think, or an ethos or concept that they have to try and grasp with.

“It’s their evening so we want them to enjoy it their pace. You come here getting to experience it the way you want to. And It’s just an evening about you two wanting to get some time together because the kids have stretched you - then brilliant, you’re welcome.”

Grace & Savour is the only restaurant in the West Midlands to win a Michelin star this year. Many of the new stars were awarded to London restaurants. A Cheltenham venue called lumiere also won a star for Gloucestershire.

Grace & Savour is the only restaurant in Solihull to now have a Michelin star. Last year Peel’s, which was also based at Hampton Manor, was awarded a Michelin star, but it closed last year.
