A 28-year-old man has died following a crash in Sutton Coldfield last night (October 27).

Police were called to A38 Sutton Coldfield Bypass shortly after 10.30pm to a collision involving a tanker lorry and a black BMW 140i car.

The driver of the BMW was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger of the BMW, a 19-year-old man, was taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be life threatening.

The driver of the lorry is assisting with enquiries, West Midlands Police said.

Road closures in the area have now been lifted.

Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes from the force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the friends and family of the man who has died and we have a family liaison officer in place to support them.
