Man jailed for assault on a woman in Solihull

A 21 year old Birmingham man has been jailed following an assault on a woman in Solihull. Craig Green from Chelmsley Wood approached his victim in an alleyway and grabbed her neck with both hands, before she managed to escape. He plead guilty to assault and was sentenced to 18 weeks in prison.

Record number of domestic violence incidents in the West Midlands

West Midlands has recorded a huge rise in domestic violence incidents during the pandemic. Over 85,000 incidents were reported to the West Midlands police during the period - an average of 235 per day. Less than 3% of these incidents which were logged as crimes resulted in any charges.

Father and step-mother jailed for killing Arthur Labinjo-Hughes

The step-mother of Arthur Labinjo-Hughes has been jailed for his murder, alongside his father Thomas Hughes who convicted for manslaughter. The court heard evidence of a campaign of severe cruelty inflicted by the pair, including over 100 marks and bruises of different ages.
