Man dies after van collides with lorry on M6

A man in his 40s has died after a crash on the M6 on Sunday (9 January).

Emergency services were called to reports a van had collided with the back of a lorry near junction 10 just after 10.45am.

The West Midlands Ambulance Service said the driver of the van was confirmed dead at the scene.

A spokesman for the service said: “Crews arrived to find the driver of the van, a man, with serious injuries.

“Unfortunately, it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save him, and he was confirmed dead at the scene.

“The lorry driver, a man, was assessed and discharged at the scene.”

Police are appealing for information following the tragic incident.

In a statement, West Midlands police, said: ““Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.

“We’re working to establish the full circumstances of the collision.

“We’re keen to hear from anybody who was there at the time and may have information or dashcam footage to assist our investigation.”
