Tram services between Priestfield and Edgbaston Village are disrupted following a crash where a man tragically died after his car collided with a wall in Wolverhampton.

A man has died in the early hours of this morning following a crash in Wolverhampton.

West Midlands Metro will be unable to operate between Priestfield & Wolverhampton Station from start of service today due to the incident.

Trams will be running between Priestfield & Edgbaston Village only.

The incident was reported at around 3.30am.

Tickets will be accepted on National Express 79 bus between Priestfield and Wolverhampton and on West Midland Railway between Wolverhampton and Birmingham.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the junction of Ettingshall Road and Bilston Road in Wolverhampton at 1.35am earlier today (Tuesday 7th January). Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and a critical care car from Midlands Air Ambulance responded to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Ambulance staff arrived to find a car which had collided with a wall. The driver, a man, was trapped and in a critical condition. Ambulance staff worked with fire colleagues to rapidly extricate him from the car and commenced advanced life support. Sadly, despite everyone’s best efforts, the man’s life couldn’t be saved.”
