Everything motorists need to know about M6 closures at Junctions 10 and 11

Drivers on the M6 are being warned to expect continued delays from Junctions 7 to 11 - due to resurfacing and road improvements.

Thousands of drivers are likely to be impacted, with the congestion and tailbacks also anticipated to hit local communities and businesses, specifically during morning and evening peak times. The road improvements are meant to ease congestion and reduce journey times in the long term.

The M6 junction 10 will be closed overnight for the rest of this week. National Highways is continuing its works around the roundabout and some connecting roads until 4 November (Friday).

Today (Thursday), from 10pm until 5am, the dedicated left turn from Wolverhampton Road (eastbound) into Bloxwich Lane will be closed. Traffic will be diverted along Wolverhampton Road (eastbound) to Green Lane and onto Stephenson Avenue to re-join Bloxwich Lane.

Tomorrow (Friday), there will be lane closures at the M6 junction 10 roundabout.There will be no diversions in place but delays are expected.

Junctions 7 to 11

M6 junctions 10 to 11 - resurfacing and drainage works

There will be further disruption for drivers due to overnight closures between J10 and J11 from 10pm to 6am on weeknights only. This will continue until November 11 and is due to resurfacing work.

A National Highways spokesman said: “From Monday, October 31 to Friday, November 11, there will also be alternating lane closures on the M6 J10-11 northbound and southbound carriageway for drainage work between 8pm and 6am, on weeknights only. This is so our team can safely move equipment before the full road closure at 10pm. All lanes will reopen by 6am each morning.”

From November 14 to December 16, there will be drainage work on the M6 J10 to 11. Overnight lane closures will be in place from Monday to Friday between 8pm and 6am.

The resurfacing work will move to the M6 between J7 and J10. There will be some full, overnight closures between 10pm and 6am on weeknights only from November 14 to December 16.
