The West Midlands arguably has the best curry in the country. This year’s British Curry Awards saw Lasan take the top spot in the region. Based on St Paul’s in the city’s Jewellery Quarter, it beat a lot of iconic competitors across Birmingham.

Jabbar Khan, founder of Lasan Group said:“We were delighted to have taken part in this. We won this award five times prior to this and this year it was exceptionally amazing for us to have won it again because we’re celebrating our 20 years.”

The annual British Curry Awards took place at Evolution London this year, celebrating the very best in Indian dining. Lasan faced stiff local competition from the likes of Asha’s and Pushkar, before taking home the accolade. While the hospitality industry continues to struggle, venue’s like this show they can still succeed by offering their customers a unique dining experience.

Lasan offers customers authentic local delicacies from across the Indian subcontinent that have stood the test of time. Birmingham itself has a rich heritage when it comes to Indian food - even contributing to the development of dishes such as the famous Balti. While times are difficult for restaurants, the West Midlands region is still amongst the most desirable for those in the culinary industry.

Khan says: “20 years ago, I set out to open the best Indian restaurant in the country. And I chose Birmingham because to me, Birmingham is the rightful home for the best Indian restaurant in the country, if not the world.”
