Historic Birmingham building to become premium workspace: Kinrise acquires 81 Colmore Row


Investor Kinrise has bought the historic Chatwin Building at 81 Colmore Row in Birmingham’s business district, with plans to turn it into a unique workspace.
Built in 1871 by Birmingham-born architect Julius Alfred Chatwin, the Grade II-listed building has long been a central landmark.

Hide AdThis is Kinrise’s first purchase in their latest UK Cities Fund, which aims to transform iconic buildings for today’s work environment.
According to managing partner George Aberdeen, this acquisition is part of a vision to create top-tier workspaces in Birmingham following their successful project at the Citadel building.
“This stunning Grade II-listed building is everything we’d hoped for,” he shared. “We’re excited to start work soon and bring a premium space to the city.”
Plans for 81 Colmore Row include a mix of high-quality offices, both for smaller businesses and larger companies looking for a city base.
Managing partner Samuel Lawson Johnston emphasized the building’s prime spot on Colmore Row, calling it the perfect location for businesses drawn to Birmingham’s vibrant city centre.
