Joe Lycett has carried out his threat to shred £10,000 of his own money if David Beckham did not leave his World Cup deal.
The Birmingham comedian had issued an ultimatum to the England football hero which ran out at midday today (Sunday, November 20). If Beckham did leave the deal, Lycett had promised to donate the cash to charities supporting LGBTQ+ people in football.

Hide AdThe former Man United midfielder has come under fire as he penned a deal with Qatar to be their ambassador, and is reportedly receiving a £10 million payday for the role. Homosexuality is illegal in the gulf state, and Beckham has previously been viewed as LGBT+ ally.
Hundreds had urged Lycett not to shred the cash, pleading with him to donate it to good causes instead. But Joe Lycett carried out his threat and the site crashed as thousands went online to watch.
The comedian appeared on screen dressed in a flamboyant rainbow tulle jacket as he chucked the cash into a giant shredder and commented: “A platform for progress.”
