It’s not been a good few days for the UK’s former Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

MPs have backed a report that found Johnson deliberately misled Parliament over lockdown parties at Downing Street.

The House of Commons voted overwhelmingly in support of the Privileges Committee’s condemnation of the former Prime Minister, by 354 to seven. The group of cross-party MPs which investigated Johnson - made up of four Conservative, two Labour, and one from the SNP - decided that Johnson had committed “repeated contempts” of Parliament by denying lockdown-breaking parties on multiple occasions.

And now Joe Lycett, who isn’t shy of weighing in on political matters, has given his thoughts on Boris. Following the Parliament vote, the Birmingham-comedian threw his ‘support’ behind Boris, tagging the former PM on Twitter, and writing “Still my king”. Lycett was, of course, being sarcastic and is known for his satirical jokes towards the Conservative Party.

The Travel Man host also sarcastically ‘backed’ Liz Truss during her short spell as Prime Minister. Truss, who replaced Johnson as Prime Minister in September 2022, was in office for just 45 days before she was voted out by the Conservative government following her disastrous mini-budget announcement - eventually being replaced by Rishi Sunak.

Lycett hit the headlines during Truss’ reign as PM after his controversial appearance on Laura Kuenssberg’s BBC show in September where the comedian made some gags about Liz Truss just before she became Prime Minister. Lycett had sarcastically said during the Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg show that he was “very right-wing” and felt “reassured” following Truss’ previous live interview in the studio. After then watching Ms Truss live in the studio, Lycett could be heard shouting off-screen: ‘You smashed it, Liz!’.

The 34-year-old had been one of Truss’ most vocal critics, regularly posting hilarious commentary and asides on his social media accounts as her leadership of the Conservative party unfolded.
