14 photos of Jamaica Day in Victoria Square & the Bullring in Birmingham

Even the Bullring bull got dressed up to celebrate along with steel bands, speakers and singers - with more entertainment throughout the evening

It’s 60 years since the sunshine island of Jamaica became independent and Birmingham is celebrating with the community in style.

There are a host of performers appearing in Victoria Square where a special flag raising ceremony was held this afternoon (Saturday, August 6) and the carnival vibe was alive at the Bullring too.

Even the Bullring Bull got dressed up for the occasion - bagging a bit of attention back from all the fuss being made over the Brummie Bull and star of the Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony over at Centenary Square!

We’ve got a few pictures from all the action this afternoon and we’ll be bringing you a full video report tomorrow - with the celebrations carrying on through the night.
