I tried popular chips fried in beef dripping at Blists Hill for the first time - here's what I thought

I tried the popular chips at the open-air museum Blists Hill in Shropshire for the very first time - and what a treat!

I had heard that the chips at the open-air museum Blists Hill in Shropshire are delicious - and the people that told me this certainly are not wrong.

I visited the museum on the second day of re-opening, after being taken over by the National Trust, and there was a long queue of people waiting to get their hands on some.

The queue was worth the wait. It was a hot day, and yet I pursued in the line, to order some of the highly renowned chips.

I ordered a cone and sat outside, enjoying the sunshine.

The chips were delicious. They are considered iconic because they are cooked exactly as they were in the 19th century.

They are fried in traditional beef dripping rather than modern vegetable oils, giving them a rich, delicious flavour.

Served piping hot from a replica Victorian Fried Fish Dealer, it was a real treat during my day out.

All I could think of is how I wished I could always order these chips, fried in beef dripping. It brings so much flavour to the chips!

They use high-quality local Shropshire potatoes, and it ensures a crispy exterior and fluffy interior.

If you visit the museum you have to try the delicacy. The queues are worth the wait - and a couple of mouthfuls in I began to realise why people were ordering chips at 11am! Beat the queues, very smart!

Eat them sitting down enjoying the atmosphere, or wander through the living history museum. It was a delicious delight on my wonderful day out.

How am I ever going to enjoy a normal cone of chips again?
