Huge building fire breaks out in Hockley, Birmingham - Firefighters urge the public to "avoid the area"
Firefighters are currently battling a significant fire that broke out early Sunday morning in Birmingham.
The West Midlands Fire Service reported that crews were alerted to the blaze on Barr Street in the Hockley neighbourhood at around 06:20 BST.

Hide AdThe fire service has urged residents to avoid the area while firefighters work to control the incident. “We have multiple crews at a large fire on Barr Street, Hockley, Birmingham. Fire Control are receiving multiple calls, and crews are in attendance dealing with the incident. Please avoid the area if you are local,” stated the West Midlands Fire Service.
Road closures have been implemented on Barr Street and Hockley Street, at the junction of Great Hampton Street, to facilitate the emergency response.
West Midlands Police have confirmed that these streets have been closed off.
No injuries have been reported in connection with the incident.
