A man tried to burgle a house on Shirley Road in Hall Green, said West Midlands Police. The incident took place at 8.45am on Friday, 16 September and officers are looking for the man, who tried to break in to a house by opening multiple doors.

“We want to talk to him after someone tried to open doors at a home in Shirley Road, Birmingham, at 8.45am on Friday, 16 September. Message us via Live Chat at the West Midlands Police website , 8am to midnight, or call 101, quoting 20/814336/22,” West Midlands Police tweeted along with a photo of the man.

Burglary in Birmingham

There were 3,107 burglaries in Birmingham between June 2021 and June 2022, according to figures obtained via a Freedom of Information request. Of the 3,107, only 85 led to a charge or court summons. The ten burglary hotspots were also revealed. Selly Oak tops the list, followed by Edgbaston, Moseley and Kings Heath, Stockland Green, Aston, Northfield, Lozells and East Handsworth, Longbridge, Bournville and Bartley Green.

More than 700 burglaries were recorded in Selly Oak in 2020 and 491 were recorded between June 2021 and June 2022. Burglaries went up in Edgbaston - which is home to one of the most expensive houses in the city. There were 350 burglaries between June 2021-22.
