Great Barr fire: photos show large blaze and destroyed Birmingham factory

Around 60 firefighters were called to a factory fire in Great Barr on Wednesday (December 27).

The fire broke out in a factory on to Shady Lane, with West Midlands Fire service being called to the incident at around 8.20am..

The road was closed while the emergency services dealt with the blaze and firefighters were still on site on Wednesday evening but had scaled down their resources and were liaising with the owner of the premises.

There have been no reported casualties at this time, the fire servcie confirmed.

Shady Lane has also re-opened to traffic.

"Colleagues from West Midlands Police are also in attendance, assisting with traffic measures. Shady Lane is closed and local bus routes will be affected as we work at the scene. If your home or workplace is affected by the smoke plume, please keep your doors and windows closed."
