A woman, aged 58, was also arrested on Tuesday (31 January) and a 57-year-old man was arrested the following day on 1 February. They were arrested on suspicion of funding terrorism under section 15 of the Terrorism Act 2000.

All four continue to be questioned at a West Midlands police station following the pre-planned arrests.

A search of a residential address in the city continues. The force said there is not believed to be any imminent threat to the public.

A statement from the force, read: “Every year thousands of reports from the public help police tackle the terrorist threat. If you see or hear something that doesn’t seem right, trust your instincts and ACT by reporting to police in confidence here.”
