The charges of assault by touching are alleged to have taken place at the mosque, which cannot be named for legal reasons.

The other offences are alleged to have happened elsewhere.

Daauud, who no longer works at the mosque, was arrested in the early hours of Monday morning following information provided by the mosque, which is helping with our enquiries, and was charged last night.

He appeared before Walsall magistrates today where he was remanded in custody to appear before Birmingham Crown Court on 29 June.
