A Midlands billionaire has been named on the Insider Media Midlands Rich List 2024.

John Bloor is the only billionaire on the Midlands Rich List, however he also appears on Forbes Real-Time Billionaires list.

A certain Elon Musk may top that particular list with a net worth of $308.1bn, however Mr Bloor’s real-time net worth of $1.5bn ranks him 2,167th in the world today.

Mr Bloor joins five millionaires on the annual listing that has been released exclusively to BirminghamWorld today (Wednesday, November 13, 2024).

Who is Derbyshire billionaire John Bloor?

John Bloor is the richest man from Derbyshire on the Midlands Rich List 2024.

The elusive billionaire - we tried to find a photo of him but were unable to - is ranked fourth out of 50 on the list.

The 81-year-old heads up Bloor Holdings and owns Bloor Homes.

Mr Bloor isn't just one of the UK’s leading house builders; his many passions are said to include motorcycles, which has led him to become the CEO of Triumph Motorcycles in 1983.

He is said to have started off as an apprentice plasterer and over the decades has built up a reputation and empire that sees his net worth skyrocket to £3.5bn.

It is reported that the privately held Bloor Homes creates over 3,500 homes each year.

The Derbyshire-based billionaire paid himself £18.7m of dividends in 2023 despite lower profits.
