Six fire crews are tackling a fire in a kitchen at a home in Stechford, Birmingham

West Midlands firefighters are battling a blaze at a property on Giles Close in Stechford this afternoon (Monday, June 26).

WMFS said they were called at 1.53pm after a kitchen caught fire and the blaze spread to the roof of the property. Six members of the crews wore breathing apparatus as they attended the blaze which has been contained. All people have been accounted for and there are no reported casualties at this stage.

Here’s the full statement from West Midlands Fire Service: “We were called at 1.53pm to reports of a fire on Giles Close, Stechford in Birmingham. A total of six fire crews are in attendance at the incident, which involves a fire in a kitchen that has spread through extraction into the roof of the property. Crews, with 6 wearing breathing apparatus, are using two hose reel jets to tackle the fire.

“The fire within the roof has been contained and neighbouring properties on both sides are currently unaffected, but are being monitored closely. All persons are accounted for in this incident and there are currently no reported casualties.”
