West Midlands Fire Service has attended to a blaze in a flat in Aston

People are being asked to avoid the area around Staniforth Street, Aston, after a blaze broke out.

Fire fighters remain in attendance at the incident in a flat on the third floor of a six storey building. The fire is extinguished,but WMFS remains at the scene along with other emergency services.

A WMFS spokesperson said: “Crews from Bournbrook; Highgate; Ladywood; Aston and Handsworth Fire Stations attended a fire within a flat on the 3rd floor of a 6 storey building. The blaze has now been extinguished, but we remain on scene alongside other emergency services.”
