No matter whether you are a big movie buff or just like seeing familiar locations, we’ve put together a list of ten films which Birmingham features in.
There’s been a number of prominent actors who have visited the city including the likes of Tom Cruise, Johnny Depp, and Cillian Murphy, amongst others. The Peaky Blinders phenomenon has helped to highlight Brum’s brilliance around the world, but what are the best movies which were filmed in the city?

1. Ready Player One
Steven Spielberg based much of the filming for Ready Player One in Birmingham, but also utilised several London locations for the sci-fi action adventure film. Birmingham locations included Digbeth and Lionel Street. Rating: 7.4

2. Stan and Ollie
Stan and Ollie, starring Steve Coogan and John C Reily, was filmed at a number of locations including Birmingham.The film was also shot in Birmingham’s Old Rep Theatre as well as the Black Country Museum. 3. Brassed Off
This 1996 drama is about a woman called Gloria who is sent by her power company to assess the condition of a coal mine in her former hometown. Her arrival injects a new lease of life in the local band which prepares for a national competition. Some scenes were filmed in Birmingham, including at the Town Hall which as used as a substitute for the Royal Albert Hall. IMDb rating: 7.2

4. The Kingsman: The Golden Circle
