Detective Sergeant Julie Lyman, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We are appealing for witnesses and in particular for people with dash cam footage to please contact us. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man and we are doing all we can to support them at this very difficult time.”

Sadly this incident is the latest in a series of fatal collisions on Birmingham roads in recent weeks, including the death of 12 year-old Azaan Khan who was killed on the Coventry Road in South Yardley in June.

West Midlands Police highlighted their concerns about road safety saying: “Road safety is a key issue for WMP. We know that by working together with local communities and partners we can make significant progress in creating safer roads.”
