A new Formula 1 simulation venue will be opening in Birmingham this year after a deal was agreed to bring the attraction to the city in 2022.

The F1 Arcade will occupy an 11,000 sq. ft unit at Two Chamberlain Square at Paradise Birmingham, the £1.2 billion business, residential and leisure centre. It will be only the second F1 Arcade venue in the country, with the brand’s first venue opening at One New Change, St Paul’s, in London in November.

With the main entrance on Centenary Way, the arcade will offer a unique racing simulation experience for Brummies. The F1 Arcade company couldn’t confirm when exactly the venue will be opening in 2023, but said: “F1 Arcade is still planning to launch in Birmingham as planned later this year.”

West Midlands mayor Andy Street recently revealed on his social media accounts that construction work of One Centenary Way, where the arcade will be located, has been completed - meaning the arcade is likely to be installed in the coming months in preparation for opening later this year.

Posting on Twitter, the mayor wrote: “Construction of One Centenary Way has completed and @F1Arcade is speeding into the city - their first location outside of London. It’s a new hospitality and racing experience with state-of-the-art F1 simulators.”

How will the F1 Arcade work?

The F1 Arcade in Birmingham will feature bespoke racing simulators designed especially for the venue, featuring motion and audio-visual effects to immerse guests in the race. The idea takes inspiration from the world of Formula 1

Ross Fittall, senior development manager at MEPC, development and asset manager of Paradise, said: “F1 Arcade will be a major new attraction for the city and one that will appeal to all ages and backgrounds. This truly ground-breaking new leisure concept is coming to Birmingham in only its second venue in the UK. With cutting edge gameplay, high quality food and drink and an inviting, innovative space, it will be an exciting venue with something for everyone.”

The F1 Arcade will join other entertainment businesses around Centenary Way - including Vinoteca, Dishoom, Albert’s Schloss, Rosa’s Thai and Yorks at Paradise.
