Emergency services called as firefighters tackle blaze at Sheldon flat

Firefighters are tackling a blaze at a flat in Sheldon this morning (11 May).
Emergency services were called to the junction of Salcombe Avenue and Cranes Park Road just after 3pm after a fire broke out in a flat.

Hide AdA tweet from the fire service, read: “We have 8 appliances and a Hydraulic platform currently at a fire in Sheldon.
“First appliances were on scene within 3 minutes. Assertive firefighting meant this incident was brought under control quickly.”
A statement from the West Midlands Ambulance Service, read:“We were called by the fire service at 3:06am to a fire at a flat on the junction of Salcombe Avenue and Cranes Park Road.
“We sent one ambulance, two paramedic officers, the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) and a MERIT trauma doctor and critical care paramedic.
“We assessed one patient who was discharged on scene.”
