On the 45th anniersary of Elvis’ death, we’ve put together a gallery from the European Elvis Championships competition celebrating his life at the Hilton Hotel near the NEC in Birmingham

Elvis Presley was one of the most influential figures of the 20th century, and his death continues to be one of the most controversial.

Elvis died 45 years ago today (16 August), and The King’s legacy lives on, and people are still fascinated by his life and the circumstances of his unexpected and untimely death.

Presley, who is recognised as the best-selling solo music artist of all time by Guinness World Records, sold over 400 million records worldwide and his songs are still some of the most well-known and span generations. He’s arguably the most iconic figure in popular music, which is why Elvis conventions still take place all over the world.

Back in January, the annual European Elvis Championships took place at the Hilton Metropole in Birmingham. Elvis impersonators from across the globe travelled to the West Midlands for the competition.

The event is set to take place at the hotel once again next year between January 5th and 9th.
