Former Duran Duran guitarist Andy Taylor has announced a new solo album after more than three decades. The 62-year-old musician, who has been battling terminal prostate cancer, has been working on several projects since his diagnosis became public. Unable to attend Duran Duran’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction in 2022, he sent a message to his former band - which he left for the second time in 2006 - and fans - updating them about his serious health issue.

Since then, the guitarist has promised to live his life to the fullest and collaborated with Duran Duran. Frontman Simon Le Bon flew to Andy’s Ibiza studio to work with him. And now, Andy has announced his latest solo album - the first in 33 years - called Man’s A Wolf To Man. Andy released his debut solo album, Thunder in 1987 and his second solo album Dangerous was released three years later. He rejoined Duran Duran in 2000 and worked with them on the 11th and 12th albums before leaving again in 2006.

The release of Andy’s latest solo album was delayed due to the pandemic and his battle with cancer, he explained in a press release. “When I started writing this album, it was the beginning of the chaos – 2016, 2017,” Taylor explained in a press release, according to Ultimate Classic Rock.

“Man’s a Wolf to Man is pretty apt now. Having lived there, had kids there, had an amazing career there, I know America very well. And when you watch the breakdown, and the extremes of it, how quickly people became vicious enemies.

“Well, Man’s a Wolf to Man is about how man is his own worst enemy and will behave like a pack of wolves towards his other human enemy,” the guitarist said. “What we saw bubbling when I started writing, it was all about getting even – why do you get so mad trying to get even? Why do people get angry? Why don’t they just do better themselves? I was getting back to making records that are human, about something that mattered or matters, that are in the moment.”

In 2023, Andy also worked with Tina Arena on her album Love Saves, according to American Songwriter. The album is set to release on September 8. You can hear the first release from the album below.
