Dudley Zoo issues statement announcing closure due to snow and ice

Dudley Zoo will be closed to the public once again today

Dudley Zoo has this morning announced it will be closed for the rest of the day on Friday. This is due to the snow and ice which has hit the region overnight.

The zoo was also closed yesterday due to the wintry conditions. This has been extended into today (Friday).

On Twitter, the zoo posted to inform customers about the closure. They also gave advice on how people can rearrange tickets which were bought for visitors today.

They said: “Due to further snowy weather we’ve taken the decision to remain CLOSED to visitors again today. If you have pre-booked tickets for today (Friday), please call the office on 01384 215313 on Monday and we’ll rearrange your visit.”

Overnight rain, sleet, and snow gradually clears through the morning leaving a much drier and brighter afternoon though still the odd snow flurry is possible. Breezy to start but winds gradually easing. A chilly day, particularly in the breeze. Maximum temperature 4 °C.

A fine evening with clear skies. This means temperatures will drop quickly overnight leading to a widespread sharp frost with icy stretches likely. Light winds. Minimum temperature -3 °C.

March 11

A cold and frosty start with bright skies. Staying largely dry and bright through the morning with a band of rain, sleet and snow in the afternoon alongside strengthening winds. Maximum temperature 6 °C.

Cold again on Sunday with patchy cloud and rain arriving later. Patchy rain on Monday though turning milder. Remaining unsettled into next week with strong winds on Monday and Tuesday.
