Multiple people arrested during police action in West Bromwich after drugs, weapon seized

Three arrests were made in West Bromwich during police action at the town centre. Drugs dog PD Lucky was also on hand to detect anyone carrying drugs.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested for assaulting a police officer and later bailed. A 16-year-old girl was arrested for a public order offence and also bailed.

A 32-year-old man was arrested and charged with four sexual assaults. He was remanded to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court today (March 2).

Earlier in the day, West Midlands Police conducted a drugs warrant in the residential area of the town. Two men, aged 19 and 23, were arrested for possession of a weapon and a firearm, after a machete and a stun gun were found in the property. They were also arrested for drug offences after Cannabis and suspected class A drugs were recovered. They were later bailed.

Sergeant Paul Bishop from the Town Centre team, said: “We were helped by officers from nearby neighbourhoods, British Transport Police, local Business Improvement District (BID) ambassadors and environmental protection officers.

“We wanted to show an all-out approach to tackle problems that people tell us make them feel unsafe in the town.

“We want West Bromwich town centre to be a welcoming and safe place to visit. Please tell us if there is an issue that you think we should know about.”
