West Midlands Police has arrested a man following a fatal hit and run collision on Chester Road at the junction with Gravelly Lane in Erdington

A man has been arrested following the death of a cyclist in a hit and run collision in Erdington yesterday (Wednesday, May 31).

Police were called to Chester Road, at the junction with Gravelly Lane, at around 5.30pm. A man in his 40s was confirmed dead at the scene.

A 36-year-old man went to a police station later in the evening and was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He remains in custody for questioning.

A Mercedes car suspected of being involved in the collision has also been recovered.The road has re-opened.
