Machine gun and other firearms recovered in Birmingham and Sandwell by police

A gun crime suspect has been arrested and several firearms have been recovered after warrants were carried out at addresses in Birmingham and Sandwell.
Officers carried out three warrants at addresses in Stechford, Winson Green and West Bromwich yesterday morning (Tuesday, February 27).

Hide AdIn Stechford, they found a machine gun, a revolver as well as three blank firing guns, and a fourth blank firing gun which was in the process of being converted to fire live ammunition.
Equipment which can convert weapons to fire live ammunition was also recovered. A large amount of cash and drugs were also seized. A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of firearms and remains in police custody.
Some of the weapons are believed to be capable of firing live ammunition, while others are undergoing testing which will provide further information as we continue our investigations.

“The activity falls under Operation Target, which is our commitment to tackling serious and organised crime in the West Midlands. We’re continuing to take drugs, guns and serious criminals off the streets and to keep the public safe which is always at the heart of everything we do.”
