Police have arrested a man after gunshots were fired in Smethwick.

Officers launched an investigation after a gun was fired towards an address in Grenville Drive at around 1.10am on Saturday, March 9. After receiving information, West Midlands Police said they arrested a 22-year-old man on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent yesterday (Tuesday, March 26). They explained that he was detained in London and is currently in police custody for questioning. A WMP spokesperson said: “Although damage was caused to an address, thankfully no-one was injured in the incident. We won't tolerate gun crime on our streets and we'll look to act on any intelligence we receive. We're running Operation Target to combat serious and organised crime offences.
