A BMW driver who was drunk on the busy A442 in Shropshire has been banned from the road.

Jaja Thompson, aged 27, drove a BMW 2 Series on the A-road near Bridgnorth on May 12 this year.

A breath test found that Thompson had 67 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath, exceeding the legal limit in England and Wales of 35mcg.

Thompson, of Moss Lane, Leyland, Lancashire, pleaded guilty at Telford Magistrates Court to driving with alcohol above the legally specified limit.

Magistrates banned Thompson from driving for 12 months.
