Three teenagers have been charged following a series of robberies on canal towpaths in Birmingham.

The 17-year-olds, who cannot be named for legal reasons, have been charged with conspiracy to rob. Police have not said whereabouts on the canals the robberies took place.

The three teenagers appeared at Birmingham Magistrates Court this morning (Saturday, March 2). The three are accused of robbing students on canal towpaths and threatening them with weapons in a series of offences stretching back six months.

A spokesperson for West MIdlands Police said: “If anyone has further information on these robberies, contact us via Live Chat or 101 quoting crime number 20/957765/23. Officers have been carrying out regular patrols in response to these incidents and we work closely with the universities in the region to keep students safe.”
