A man has sustained severe injuries following a car crash in Birmingham, according to the West Midlands ambulance service.

Emergency services were alerted shortly after 06:00 BST on Friday when a car collided with a tree at the junction of A38 Tyburn Road and Abbotts Road in Erdington.

Firefighters extricated the driver from the vehicle, and paramedics provided immediate medical attention, as reported by West Midlands Ambulance Service.

The injured man was subsequently transported to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for further treatment.

Police have advised drivers to avoid the area, implementing a diversion to manage traffic.

National Express West Midlands has confirmed that bus services in the vicinity are being rerouted. Specifically, buses on routes 11A and 11C are affected by the diversions.
